Match Report | In the wettest and windiest weather conditions Lux Park had to offer, Caradon ladies 1st team progressed through to the next round of the county cup. A determined Cambourne School of Mines team proved to be tough opposition and with Caradon unable to field any subs for this game it was pure grit and determination that saw the home team over the line with a 2-1 win. CSOM were proving difficult to pass, as their youthfull defence were stopping anyone trying to weave thier way through. Caradon increased the pace of thier passes and started to show the league differance which seperates the two teams. Clare Poad broke the deadlock with a sharp shot from a penalty corner and moments later Bizzie Dinnis calmy converted to give the home a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break. Caradon continued to create good chances and could have easily increased thier lead but it was CSOM who grabbed a goal of their own mid way through the second half. Normally this would have increased the tension but a player of the match performance from Amy Batty in defence assurered her team that everything was in control. Caradon continued to huff and puff, searching for another goal but it was not to be. As the final whistle went, Caradon were relieved to make it through knowing they have a tough semi final fixture next year, away to a confident Newquay side. |
