Match Report |
Caradon Ladies 4’s played their last game at home before Christmas on Saturday, against Caradon Ladies 3’s. This would be a tough test for both teams as inter-club competition are always difficult.
Both teams started well but it was the 3rds who were dominating, forcing the 4s back into their final quarter. However they just couldn’t find the finish needed to pull ahead. Karen Stacey in goal was doing her best and made a few good clearances but it was only a matter of time before the 3’s got the upper hand and when they did they relaxed a little too much. The 3rds restarted the game, Sasha Riddle fed the ball to Izzy Hedly, her speedy run down the wing caught the 3’s off guard, Izzy weighted her pass to Neve Hunn so well Neve was able to sweep it towards the 3’s goal beating the keeper to level the score. The game was now officially on! The 3’s did manage to bag another goal just before half time giving them a little buffer before the break.
The 3rds must have had a good team talk as they came out after the break and dominated the game, as they possibly should have done from the start. The game was again being played out in the 4’s half of the pitch for the most part but they were not making it easy for them. The 3’s were able to put away another 3 goals without answer from the 4’s. The game finished 5-1 which could be looked at as a fair result but the score line is a little harsh when considering the effort the 4’s put in to the game. All teams can now enjoy a rest over the festive season and come back well rested when the league starts again in January.
