Match Report |
Caradons ladies 4ths travelled up to Plymouth to play OPM’s at Marjons on Saturday, OPM’s are a tough side and are currently 3rd in Trelawney Division 2, so our girls knew it would be a tough game.
OPM’s started strongly robbing the visitors of the ball and ploughing into the Caradon half and scoring within a couple of minutes. Caradon were a bit shocked by this and their heads dropped a little but Sharon Jeffery at the back did her best to lift their spirits and make a game of it and they did. Defending with great tenacity keeping OPMs at bay, whilst managing to have the odd attack themselves, sadly none of these chances were converted. Just before half time OPMs managed to score again stamping their dominance on the game.
The second half was more of a stalemate than the first with both teams wrestling for control of the ball. The game was being played out in the mid-field, however Caradon just couldn’t break through into the home sides circle. Some of the more skilful OPM players weren’t having the same issue however and they soon managed to double their lead. Goalie Georgia Eddy wasn’t ever going to give in and in the final few minutes of the game keep repeated OPM shots from finding their mark.
A 4-0 defeat for Caradon 4’s wasn’t idea but against such a strong side it was a good result. This coming Saturday is a home derby when the Caradons 4’s take on Caradon 3’s at Lux Park in what should be a very entertaining game.
