Match Report |
Caradon travelled up to Plymouth for an early start against Plymouth Marjons 5th’s in what they thought would be a close game. However it was not to be as Marjons well rehearsed set plays gave them the edge.
Caradon started strongly, battling into the home sides circle and pouring on the pressure but they just couldn’t find the goal. Marjon were quick to turn the ball over and against thanks to an interesting umpiring decision scored completely against the run of play. A stunned Caradon struggled to get back in the game, Marjons seemed to sense the visitors shock and pressed their home advantage increasing their lead despite the best efforts of the Cornish side. Caradon did manage to steal a goal before the half time whistle but going into half time 3-1 down wasn’t a true reflection of the game or the effort put in by Caradons ladies.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, with Caradon struggling to contain the Marjons players and being baffled by some of the umpiring decisions going against them. They keep fighting though and did mount a little bit of a comeback when an attack by Izzy Hedley down the right wing gave Jane Longrigg chance in the circle which as stopped by a Marjons foot. Penalty corner awarded, Longrigg took full advantage of the opportunity to smash the ball through the attackers into the goal. Caradon lost the game 6-2 which isn’t a true reflection of the team effort put into the game but gives them plenty of positives to build on in the run up to the Christmas break.
