Match Report |
Caradons Ladies 4ths played at home on Saturday against Plymouth University 2’s in what would be a testing game for them. The game was started after a minutes silence for the memorial weekend.
Plymouth Uni started well forcing the home side back defending hard, their defence stood strong with G in goal dealing with any stray shots with confidence. Caradons midfield were working hard but just couldn’t make the break through in the Uni final 23. The Uni had more luck in Caradons circle with a couple of goals going against the run of play. The home side let their heads drop a little at this which enabled the visitors to double their lead before half time.
Sitting on the wrong side of a 4-0 deficit Caradons half time team talk focused on the positives of their game so far and they came out fighting on the whistle. Almost looking like a different team they took the fight to the young Uni side. Maddie Gubbins and Sasha Riddle put in a huge effort in the middle of the pitch for Caradon. Both girls switching between attack and defence helping out all over the pitch, keeping up an impressive work rate for the remainder of the game. Lauren Gerry did her best in attack trying to secure a goal but despite her best efforts couldn’t quite find the net.
The second half finished goalless but Caradon can take a massive positive from their style of play and the effort put in by their younger players in the second half, if they can build on this in the games to come they are sure to do well. The only cloud from the day was the loss of Tilly Scott, as she leaves to for New Zealand. She has been a reliable valuable player in the 4ths since they started and will be missed.
