Match Report

Caradon 0 Devonport Service 8

Caradon knew they had a tough game ahead of them playing a full strength top of the table Devonport Serivce side. The Plymouth side started the game really strongly and brought out the best in the home team. They played their best hockey of the season so far defending with such tenacity, frustrating the visitors at every turn. The Caradon defence of Charlie Perkins, Emma Link,Hazel Ashman and Rachel Quick did their best fighting wave after wave of DS attack but it was only a matter of time before the visitors slotted home their first of the day. The game continued in this way for the remainder of the second half with the Caradon backs and midfield struggling to hold back the tide of the Devonport attack.
The first half finished 4-0 to the visitors but a rousing half time team talk gave them  renewed energy.
Devonport still had the upper hand but Caradons defensive press was now causing the visitors problems. The home capitalised on this pressure and had a few chances with Lauren Gerry missing the goal by the width of the post. Devonport Services skill showed as they converted most of their goal scoring opportunities. The final score line looks harsh and doesn’t reflect the hard work put in by Caradons 4ths. It was a full team effort and quite a positives can be taken from the game and carried forward into their next game against St Austell
