Women's 3rd XI Vs Devonport Services

Caradon 3's came out with all cylinders firing against top of the league Devonport Services.  The ladies spent the first five minutes in Devonport half playing some impressive hockey in front of home supporters.

After sixteen minutes Devonport scored their first goal from a short corner opportunity.  This challenging game seen all players digging deep, Caradon juniors were not intimidated by the fierce competition and simply held strong throughout.

Devonport were given possession and pinched a second goal from a controversial lifted ball.  However Caradon came back with an impressive flick by Jayne Longrigg that shot straight past the Devonport keeper.

Devonport started the second half with pace, heading straight to the D where right back player Kerryn Walsh stopped them in their tracks.  Devonport picked up their third goal from another short corner.  A driving run from Caradon found up front player Charlotte Reed who weaved past players to pop in Caradon's second and final goal for the day. 

After a few injuries, Caradon were forced to reshuffle with up front player Ellen Spencer changing her usually attacking mind set as she dropped to support the defensive line.  Rightly so Ellen was nominated player of the match, as she stepped into this position with great strength and determination.

Caradon mid players Abi Larigo and Pippa Hedley worked tirelessly as did others as they tracked back, held their opposition tightly and played some nice one two balls.  Despite Caradon's best efforts they were just unable to stop the following three goals in the second half.

The game ended with a loss, but Caradon can feel proud of their efforts as they certainly did not give this top of the league team an easy ride.
