Women's 3rd XI Vs Caradon 4

This Saturday’s challenge of inter club 3’s v 4’s ended exactly the same as the previous game with a  5-1 win to ladies 3’s. 

The 3’s knew not to underestimate their opposition and the importance to come out strong. A season of training together meant players could anticipate play and were well aware of each individuals strengths.  With this in mind the 3’s travelled with the ball with some simple but effective one two passes. 

An early and impressive goal from a short corner was delivered by player of the match Pippa Hedley. This followed quickly with a goal from Libby Walsh. Lauren Gerry followed suit and scored the third goal giving the 3’s a healthy lead.

However, Caradon 4’s came out guns blazing in the second half. They played a quick ball and found an unmarked striker who buried the ball in the back of the net. Caradon 3’s livened up and soon retaliated with a goal from wing player Emma Gliddon.

Caradon 3’s were awarded a few short corners as they purposely found feet in the D. Again Pippa Hedley navigated the ball past the keeper to collect the final fifth goal of the day.

The 4’s continued to show pace and determination but Sharon Jeffery and Amber Jeffery held the back line strongly, giving encouragement and direction to mid players too. 

The match ended with both teams nominating player of the match to the other team. Caradon 3’s were unanimous in selecting Lynsey White. As she successfully delivered on Several occasions a drill that was practised on Wednesday evening. Running the base line Lynsey gave a 90 degree ball straight through the defending player to perfectly find the top of the D.
