Women's 3rd XI Vs Caradon 4

It was certainly an exciting game on Saturday when Caradon Ladies 3's faced Caradon Ladies 4's for their final league game of 2018.  The third team captain Nicola Batten reminded the team to come out strong as this was a team not to be underestimated.  This was certainly true as in the first quarter Caradon 4's applied pressure and almost rattled the usually calm and collected 3's team.  Sarah Strevens was first to score with a slip pass from Emma Gliddon.  Caradon 3's settled and realised they needed to be quicker on the ball and find better space in order to get around their tight opposition.

The backline worked well circulating the ball with some strong and accurate passes.  Play reached Ellen Spencer who found the back of the net following after an impressive goal from Caradon 4's.  At half time the score was 2-1, an evenly matched game.

In the second half usually defending player Tania Spicer stepped up to mid and scored an impressive goal.  With a nice drive from the wing and a one two into Lauren Gerry, Caradon 3's scored their fourth. Despite the lead the defending players were uable to sit back as the 4's picked up some quick balls and flew down the mid. Each and every player fought hard in this challenging interclub game, you could tell regular training together gave them great strength and confidence.    

Caradon 3's finised 5-1 as Libbly Walsh scored from the post.  The excitment continued right to the end of play as Caradon 4's were awarded a short corner for a foot in the D. The final whistle blew and the home team supporters watched with anticipation.  Despite a well rehersed short corner keeper Emily Joyce did not let it pass her.

The teams continued the festive cheer back at the club where there was mince pies, crackers and birthday cake galore!
