Match Report | Caradon thirds team were feeling the festive spirit as they prepared for their home match against St Austell. The first half Caradon found good space but lacked their usual strength and accurate passes. Whilst Caradons drive and determination was clearly evident St. Austell made a break and scored. The back line worked hard and tirelessly to narrow down their opportunities, but the oppositions quick play was to be commended. Player of the match Delia Woodman directed players from her centre back position ensuring the press was strong and players balanced across the pitch at all times. Jointly nominated player of the match was Abi Larigo who successfully held the middle both defensively and finding up front players. Half time each player pointed out simple points to polish, it was clear from the whistle everyone took this on board. Caradon came out fighting, playing their usual top form. Sarah Strevens found empty spaces and accurately pushed up play with some fantastic passes. In front of home supporters she scored a cracking goal with a reverse stick. Drawing at 1-1 and only ten minutes remaining Caradon pulled up the stops and played quick balls at every opportunity. St.Austell also fought hard and made the mid and pivot work with some fast play. A short corner was awarded and Caradon thought hard which routine to play and thankfully it paid off as Pippa Hedley scored with a clean strike. Caradon did not become complacent in the final minute so it was sticks down until the final whistle. This Team will face each other again early in the new year when they take on the challenge of the plate.
