Match Report |
Caradon 2's needed flippers today to negotiate Lux Parks waterlogged pitch (never seen it that bad since it opened in 1998!) The crowd were brave and super hardy, umpires too splashing around (thanks Jan and Tim). Duchy tried to confuse us by mostly wearing matching headbands but it didn't work... a short corner in the first 10 minutes lead to Tania Mary s strike hitting the backboard to put us 1v0 up against league leaders - hooray!! They weren't happy.
Some end to end action (pushing, shoving, mucho swearing and a little green triangle for Katie Jones) and Duchy equalised just before half time. It appeared that Charlie Harris had received a sneaky blow to the chin. Unfortunately the steri-strip wouldnt stick in the wet NB buy marine grade next time.
Duchy came out rearranged and recharged. We sorely missed bed ridden Shelley Lockett doing the subbing and lost our way somewhat, allowing the visitors to get into their stride and control the game. Daisy Hunn decided to pop to A&E to dry off ;-) Newly christened Luits (Rach Luiten) battled tirelessly in the midfield, thwarting the passing flow. But four of the opposition were linking easily with their quality striker and scored 3 more goals in the long, wet second half, despite Zoe Harris brave goalkeeping and wrinkly fingers.
Katie Jones unanimously earned Turkey of the match for card and dive/splashing slide and Tania Mary and Zoe Harris shared the MoM award. Although Tania needs fining next week for leaving her chair in Sports Club soaking wet.
Thank you Hazel Marie and Jane Luiten for understanding my numb jawed request to collect the pizzas.
PZ away next week is ultimately do-able girls.
