Women's 2nd XI Vs Plym Valley

Caradon 2s took on top of the table Plym Valley at the weekend and although they lost 2 - 0 they gave a great team performance; the only difference in the 2 teams was experience in front of goal; This Caradon second team is made up mainly by young developing hockey players but with their drive and determination are turning into a great team!

Caradon lost the toss but an early interception meant they were in the home teams D straight after the starting whistle and Caradon kept this pressure up for most of the 1st half and were unlucky not to be rewarded with a goal or 2. The Plym valleys' goal keeper had a excellent game; along with an experience back line clearing the Caradon attacks. Plym Valley started to fight back and were gaining ground with their attacks and finally got a goal, a lucky deflection from a short corner, they then got another a few minutes later winning the 1st half 2-0.

Caradon came together at half time and with a positive team talk went back on the pitch with more determination. Caradon played some lovely flowing hockey in the second half and never let their heads go down and again were unlucky not to to be rewarded but the Plym goalie was determined to keep a clean sheet. Caradon fought to the end and in the last few minutes a goal line scramble resulted in Plym Valley being rewarded a penalty flick; Zoe Harris (player of the match) pulled off an incredible save to keep the scoreline to a very respectible 2-0 loss. The league now breaks for Christmas but Cardon 2s don't get a break quite yet as they have been drawn against Flamouth 1st team in the quarter final of the cup away at Penryn next week.

Caradon 2s have had a great first half of the season and are currently lying in mid table.
