Match Report | Caradon 2’s travelled to Bodmin on Saturday to play 3rd in the league Bodmin. Bodmin were keen to stamp their mark on the game and pushed forward hard from the start. Caradon fought to stop this pressure but then came a spell of 3 quick well, worked goals from the home team. Caradon did manage to pull a goal back within the first half through Bryony Gubbins who calmly lifted the ball over the keeper who was on the floor. Caradon were very close to scoring more but the Bodmins keeper worked hard to save everything hit at her and the first half finished 4-1. After a constructive team talk and a few tweaks Caradon came out with more fight. The mid field of Rach Luiten, Emma Jayne Mullis, Bryony and Leah Jones worked hard for each other and created lots of chances that were just thwarted by the strong keeper. Caradon kept up the pressure and eventually it paid off with a goal from Charlotte Reed. Sadie Mullis made some lovely driving runs up the right wing and crossed in some superb balls that the forwards got sticks to but were saved again and again by the Bodmin keeper. Bodmin still looked very dangerous on the break with their very quick and skilful centre forward but Caradons defence of Claire Brown, Rachel Spencer, Daisy Hunn and Katie Jones worked extremely hard, never giving up the fight to stop these forward pushes but Bodmin did manage to get a couple more goals past them in the second half. Caradon never gave up and a well worked short corner saw Erryn Lockett finally awarded for her efforts in front of goal. A big shoutout to Emily Joyce who stepped up from the 3rds to play in goal and stood strong and confident against the strong attacks. The Caradon team worked tirelessly in this fixture and never let their heads drop and should be proud of their continued improvement as a team, Sadie Mullis came away with the must deserved player of the match accolade. |
