Women's 1st XI Vs Taunton Vale 2

Caradon secured thier biggest win of the season with a 9-1 thrashing of Taunton Vale.

Playing in the spring sunshine, Caradon started at a great pace and were keen to dominate proceedings. A fine deflection by Helen Manley at a penalty corner saw Caradon take the lead in the first 5 minutes and this was soon doubled when Bizzie Dinnis latched on to a weighted through pass by her strike partner Clare Poad.

Caradon did not sit back and thier energetic midfield line continued to push forward, so much so that Marcia Burgess found herself on the end of a Poad pass with only the keeper to beat, she did this perfectly to score her second goal of the season. Captain Poad scored 2 goals of her own before the half time break to put Caradon firmly in the driving seat for a seasons best win.

With rotating substitutions working well, Caradon continued to pile on the pressure. Dinnis scored a lovely reverse strike goal and Amy Batty continued her good goal scoring form when converting a cross from close range. Manley capped a Player of the Match performance when she pressurised a demoralised Taunton defence, stealing the ball and cheekily finishing between the goal keepers legs.

Laura Hill deservedly got on the score sheet when she smashed home from a tight angle after a surging run on the right.

With seconds left to play it was Taunton who prevented a much wanted clean sheet when they capitalised on a defensive error and sneaked a goal at the near post, but despite this Caradon were very pleased with a dominant performance and a score line which cements thier place as the team that has scored the most goals in the league, 64 with one game still to play.
