Match Report

Caradon travelled to Bude on Saturday, and despite going behind 4-1 came home with all 3 points after the final whistle blew at 5-4!

The game was played at a good pace with caradon looking the more likely to score in the opening exchanges. Bude were on the back foot until thier skillfull forward went past numerous players to slot home and give the home team the lead. This lead was quickly doubled and Caradon went into the half time break 2 goals down. This scoreline is not unusual for Caradon 1s and there was no mention of a possable defeat in the half time chat, quite the opposite.

Caradon started the second half in confident fashion, winning numerous penalty corners in the first 5 minutes. Amy Batty improvised a routine and scored past the static keeper. Bude were not about to give up thier lead, infact they increased it by scoring a further 2 to make the score line 4-1 with 30minutes left to play.

Not one Caradon head dropped, and the impending defeat acted like a switch to Player of the match, Bizzie Dinnis. A dominant display saw Dinnis level the scores, scoring twice from penalty corner strikes and a beutiful reverse stick finish after good build up play Laura Hill on the right.

Caradon now had momentum and Bude were tiring fast due to the constant pressure from midfielders Beth Harris, Reenie Hodge and Marcia Burgess.  Fleur Worden was having a great game, turning defnece into attack quicky and with real quality.

With minutes left to play Dinnis drove towards the circle and her pass found Hill, but her shot found the post. Luckily Clare Poad was in the right place at the right time to put the ball into the empty goal.

The final whistle came with Bude wandering how they let a 3 goal lead slip and Caradon jubilant at staging yet another comeback and proving just what great spirit they have as a squad.

This week ISCA are the visitors to Lux Park for a 3pm start.
