Women's 1st XI Vs White Eagles

Caradon travelled to Tiverton and came away with a well earnt three points after a tightly contested match.

The game started evenly with both teams battling hard for supremacy. From the first whistle all players knew this was to be a tight match and personal battles on the pitch were key to either team having the upper hand. 

Tiverton raced to a two goal lead and Caradon were on the ropes but a smart run on the right from Helen Manley and an accurate feed to Bizzie Dinnis, saw the in form striker deftly lift the ball over the keeper to make the score 2-1 at the half time break.

With a slight reshuffle, Caradon started the second half it a much more attacking mode. Passes were now finding thier way to team mates and pressure was mounting on the home teams goal. Clare Poads quickly taken free hit found its way to Laura Hill who reacted first to get the ball across the goal line to level the scores.

Tiverton continued to press, and despite valiant efforts by the defensive line up they scored a third. Caradon are no starngers from fighting a comeback and this game was no differant. Carrina Hodge and Marcia Burgess were in gladiator form and it was a pass from Burgess that found Dinnis to round a defender and score from a tight angle. Hodge then won a turnover ball and it was her pass that found Dinnis to complete a stunning hat trick and put Caradon in the lead for the first time. All they had to do was hold on to it for the remaining seven minutes.

Helen Delbridge made some crucail saves to ensure Caradon would claim the win and the final whistle came with both teams running on empty after an end to end , physical game.

This week sees Caradon entertain the improving Penzance team at Lux Park, 3pm start.
