Match Report

Caradon entertained high flyers Exeter University although being well beaten 4-1, played some determined hockey and pushed the visitors all the way.

Unlike previous weeks, Caradon started strongly and went toe to toe with Exeter who were strong in every aspect of the game. Caradon harrased and closed down play well and the game was evenly poised. Player of the match Nic Dymond was winning lots of 50/50 balls and initiating numerous Caradon attacks but it was the students who took the lead through a well worked goal. Caradon stayed composed and created some excellent chances, but these were wasted which only allowed Exeter to pile on more pressure. Early in the second half they increased thier lead but again, Caradon stayed composed. Julia Eldridge, Amy Batty and Fleur Worden made some crucial tackles and keeper Helen dellbridge was in fine form in goal.

Caradon continued to play attacking hockey and were rewarded when Bizzie Dinnis converted a penalty corner by expertly drag flicking into the top left corner. Caradon could smell the taste of another comeback and had chances to equalise but Exeter took advantage of gaps now appearing and finished the game by scoring 2 break away goals.

Caradon can be really proud of their performance but Exeter University played a great game and were worthy winners.
