Match Report

Caradon travelled to Exeter to take on ISCA 4s and came home with all three points. With confidence high after last weeks cup fixture, Caradon started on the front foot and pressurised the ISCA defence. With the team playing a high press, loose balls were won and Caradon were unluckly not to be awrded more penalty corners in the first 10 minutes. With the scores level a hopeful ball forward from the Exeter based team caused confusion between the last defender and Caradons' keeper. The ensuing confusion saw ISCA being awarded a penalty flick which was dutifully dispatched by the young forward.

Caradon kept their cool and continued to control the game and it wasn't long before striker, Bizzie Dinnis, scored into the roof of the net to level the scores. This goal seemed to raise Caradons' quality of play. Player of the match, Laura Hill, was creating chaos in the middle of the pitch it was only a matter of time until the visitors would score again. A well worked short corner routine saw skipper, Clare Poad, clinically fire the ball to the backboard and it was Poad again who scored the third shortly before half time after working brilliantly with Dinnis on the left and tucking the ball between the keepers legs from a tight angle.

Midfielders, Carina Hodge, Marcia Burgess and Beth Harris were dominant and Caradon were in cruise control. Against the run of play ISCA took advantage of a defensive mistake to make it 3-2 but this only spurred on Caradon who could have scored several goals before it was Poad who completed her hat trick and sealed the win after finishing a move created by Dinnis.

Although this game was scrappy at times, Caradon showed good character to get them over the line and now look forward to taking on league leaders, Newquay, at Lux Park on Saturday.
