Match Report

Caradon faced Bude at an unseasonally hot Lux park and worked hard for a well deserved point.

The home team were in a confidant mood and started at a great pace, scoring within the first 5 minutes when captain, Clare Poad, found space in the circle to send a fierce shot to the backboard.

Good passing combinations between the midfield diamond of Nic Diamond, Carina Hodge and Beth Harris were looking good and more chances on goal came and went. Caradon could not extend their lead and it was Bude who levelled the scores with a well taken goal.

The half time talk was calm and positive and it was the home team who looked the more likely to regain the lead but Caradon soon found themselves 3-1 down after a couple of soft goals were scored after defensive errors.

This was not strange territory for Caradon and if anything only spurred the home team on. Play on the right was beggining to pay dividends. Laura Hill and Helen Manley both started good attacking moves leading to numerous penalty corners and it was from one of these that Poads' defelcted shot reduced the deficit.

Player of the match, Amy Batty, was controlling the defence and stopped any further Bude attacks and when more corners were awarded to the home team she consistantly injected to heap more pressure on Bude defence and goal keeper who was beggining to frustrate the forwards of caradon.

With 10 minutes left to play a change in routine on another penalty corner saw Laura Hill stop and slip to Bizzie Dinnis who made no mistake and levelled the scores

It was all Caradon from the equaliser to the final whistle, but Caradon were happy with a point and some valuable lessons learnt.

Caradon play thier first cup game away to Newquay 2s on Saturday, 2pm start at Penair.
