Match Report | After last weeks dissapointing result, Caradon were keen to get thier season back on track and welcomed Tiverton White Eagles to Lux Park. Caradon started the game tentatively and although having the majority of play looked toothless infront of goal. White Eagles soaked up the pressure and were happy to play long balls to thier waiting forwards. This was working for them as identical moves saw the visitors 2-0 up mid way through the first half and caradon scratching thier heads for answers. Lauren Gouge worked tirelessly onĀ the left and broke play down, a resulting loose ball was pounced on by Bizzie Dinnis. After weaving through three defenders she slotted past the keeper to give the home team some hope going into the half time break. A constructive and calm discussion at the break saw Caradon look more assured and competative as the second half started. Within 5 minutes Dinnis levelled the scores with an impressive drag flick at a penalty corner. Julia Eldridge gaining an assist after a perfect stick stop at the top of the circle. Caradon, at last, looked goal hungry and increased both ball speed and movement off the ball to create more penalty corners. Clare Poad and Carina Hodege combined for Poad to slot home and then Poad and Dinnis worked in tandem for Dinnis to grab her well deserved hat trick. 4-2 and Caradon were still hungry for more. Phases of play were heaped on the now disheartened Eagles defence and it wasnt longĀ until Helen Manley pounced on the far post to seal the win. The only thing missssing was a Laura Hill goal and she surely delivered when her shot from another penalty corner found the backboard. This was a great comeback for Caradon and showed what good hockey they can play and what is possible when they find their groove. Player of the match went to Amy Batty who was steady in defence and also turned provider with her numerous penalty corner injections. This week, Cadon travel to Penzance hoping to build on this weeks performance and put some away points on the board. |
