Match Report | Caradon travelled to local rivals Marjons but thier opening fixture of the season did not go as they had planned. The game started with both teams trying to gain the upper hand and there were few chances on either goal. With both teams playing the same system it was a cagey affair with neither team daring to take the chance of opening up the oppositions defence. The first half was nearing the end when a definitive reverse pass from midfielder Baeth Harris found Laura Hill with time and space to pass onto Bizzie Dinnis in the circle. From an incredable angle, Dinnis unleashed a reverse strike that cannoned off the cross bar in to the net. Caradon were just about worthy leaders going into the half time break but a hopeful forward ball from Marjons just before the break saw Caradons' keeper, Helen Delbridge make an uncharacteristic error and a simple tap in was all that was needed to level the scores. Delbridge made up for her mistake early in the second half when she saved an awarded penalty flick but this only spurred the home team on and it was Marjons who were now creating the best chances. Man of the match, Lucie Kay, was key in defence and made some good progress down the right. Caradon struggled to make headway through the organised defence and as the half continued, passes were being hard to find anywhere on the pitch. Marjons scored two further goals to flatter them although on this occasion they were worthy winners. Caradon only have a week to lick thier wounds and will need to come out more determined when they face Tiverton at Lux Park on Saturday 3pm start. |
