Match Report | Caradon Men’s 1st XI reclaimed the top of the league after beating 3rd place Bude 7-2.
Caradon pressed Bude straight from the first whistle mounting a strong attack in the opponents half. The scoring was opened by a through ball from the half away line, picked up by Jenson Cory who committed the last two defenders who pulled the ball back to the top of the D for the waiting Chris Fasey who slapped the ball past the keeper into the far corner. Bude were not going to lay down and take it, hitting Caradon on the counter, bringing the game level.
Not to be out done a well place pass from David Fasey to his younger brother Chris Fasey allowed Chris to go one on one against the last defender, with a turn of pace Chris beat the defender on his weak side and slotting the ball over the approaching keeper into the side netting. Continuing to attack Caradon were being held at bay by the efforts of the abuse goal keeper. After the keeper saved a shot from Luke Jeffery, Neil Spencer picked up the loose rebound and forced it through the off balance goal keeper. Going into half time Caradon were 3-1 up.
The second half continued much of the same way of the first. Tyler and Finn controlling the midfield leaving space for David to attack through the middle unmarked, throwing some three dimensional skills going through the defenders on the top of the D David lifted a ball towards Chris who played the ball with his first touch over the rushing keeper. Caradon were not done scoring, a loose ball across the D was hit by Chris back through the off guard keeper for Chris’ 4th goal.
The 5-1 lead caused the Bude team to crumble under the Caradon attack, Tyler Walsh concerting a short corner for Caradon’s sixth. Unfortunately Caradon relaxed and the home team managed to scramble a second goal. Luke Jeffery kept playing at full tempo until the very end and was reward with a goal minutes before the final whistle when his attempt was deflected by a defender wrong footing the goal keeper and giving Caradon their 7th goal.
