Match Report | Lux Park played host to only one game this week, Caradon Mens 1st XI vs Bodmin. Caradon having won their first four games of the season were looking to continue their winning ways and did so by scoring early in the first half. Leon Farrow rounding three players on the top of the D, driving towards the base line and slipping the ball to Chris Fasey who shovelled the ball past the wrong footed goal keeper.
After an early flurry both teams settled with the defensive units proving to be difficult to break down. A turn over ball inside the Caradon 25 and a quick out let from Neil Spencer gave Chris the chance to beat his defender on the half way line and attack down the left, committing the last defender before picking out Luke Jeffery who shrugged off two defenders and slotted the ball past the keeper at the far post. Caradon now pressing home their advantage continued to attack but the half time whistle went moments before Tyler Walsh could make it three.
The second half started brightly and continued to apply the pressure to a shell shocked Bodmin team. A well worked short corner routine caught the defensive line off guard, players were queueing up at the far post but Lawrence Pullen got the touch and deflecting the cross and putting the home team three ahead.
Bodmin composed themselves and took advantage of a short corner to give them a glimmer of hope. Shortly after the captain, Chris Fasey, took a stick to the face and had to sub for treatment, Lawrence took the forwards position on the pitch and quickly scored his second of the game from a miscontrolled over head ball.
With their noses clearly in front again Caradon switched up another gear, Tyler Walsh collecting the ball on top of the D and Spencer deflecting the shot past the keeper. With less than five minutes remaining Caradon were not done scoring, man of the match, David Fasey, stepped up to the top of the D beating the keeper with a drag flick to the top corner.
With the final whistle blowing Caradon had secured win number five with a 6-1 victory and remain second in the league on goal difference. Next week the men’s 1s travel to Bude to play 3rd in the league. |
