Match Report | Caradon Men's A team didn't quite reach the heights of the previous week as they put in a sloppy first half performance but they eventually brought there Division winning season to a close with a comfortably 14-0 win over Plymouth University C team who fought hard and never gave up. Holding the ball for too long was the main reason they did not pressurise the University defence as much as they should have done but they eventually took the lead when Mike Parkinson dispatched a penalty flick for his first goal of the season. Caradon then had a better spell in which the goals started to fly in but then in the last 10 minutes they then started to once again overcomplicate the game and so only reached half time 5-0 up. The second half was much better with the ball being worked quicker and the space down the wings utilised effectively as the University defence started to tire. It was David Lockett who had the honour of scoring the hundreth goal of the season and the ice was added when Liam Champion also capped off an excellent season with his first goal. With 104 goals shared between 13 different scorers this has been a season to remember but the challenge now will be to show that this group of talented youngsters can hold their own in the higher division next season before the older members of the team finally wave the white flag! |
