Match Report |
With 4 regulars unavailable and 3 others called up to the first team this potential banana skin of a game was negotiated as the strength of the squad ensured Caradon A left Plymouth with the three points. Caradon and in particular Paul Hunt made a lightning start as Hunt completed his hat trick within 15 minutes. Although OPMs got a goal back through a deflected shot that wrong footed stand in keeper Mike Parkinson Caradon quickly restored their three goal lead as Ben Reynolds was well positioned on the penalty spot to hit home a good cross from Harrison Pollard. Early in the second half OPMs closed the gap again and although David Lockett finally scored from a short corner Caradon then seemed to take their foot of the gas and OPMs had their best spell of the match. Having reduced the arrears again to 2 they threatened briefly to pull another on back. Caradon were jolted back to life as Hunt picked up his fourth of the match and nineth in the last two games and then Lockett picked up his second with a run through the top of the D to fire in. Harrison Pollard capitalised on a good run from Will Turpin and Jake Andrews rounded off the scoring with a reaction hit after a bit of ping pong in the D. OPMs did pick up a consolation with the last play of the game as a short corner strike went through the keepers legs and just beat the defender on the line. Ben Reynolds, one of three players to step into the team from the Badgers squad, was named man of the match for his work down the left which was capped by his goal. The final score of 9-4 means Caradon are now one win away from securing promotion.
