Match Report |
Records fell as Caradon moved to within 2 wins of gaining promotion. The final score of 15-0 was the first time Caradon A had scored more than 10 goals in a league game (more than doubling their previous best score of 7-0). Torbay turned up with only 10 players and were soon under pressure as Caradon drove forward repeatly causing problems to the Torbay defence. Goals soon started to rain in and within 15 minutes Caradon had scored 5 with Caradon capitalising on short corner opportunities as well as open play attacks. As the half rolled on Caradon became a little stovepiped concentrating on driving straight at the Torbay defence and so the goals dried up with only 2 more scored in the final 20 minutes of the half. In the second half Caradon started to played better hockey utilising the width and spread the ball with more pace from one side to the next. Although Torbay held firm for 10 minutes Harrison Pollard opened the floodgates again with the goal of the match as he collected the ball on the halfway line and drove at pace down the right wing before cutting into the D. After beating a couple more defenders he found himself on the penalty spot and expertly reverse flicked the ball over the outrushing goalkeeper. A quality bit of hockey like that seemed to inspire Caradon into a further goal scoring frenzy as the tally quickly passed through double figures. The young Torbay side should be commended for never giving up; as this young Caradon side can contest it is never nice to be on the wrong side of such a scoreline. The goals were well spread around with Paul Hunt bagging 5, David Lockett 4, Evan Spencer 2, Will Turpin 2, Jake Andrews 1 and Harrison Pollard 1. THe biggest cheer however was reserved for Rapper Tamblin who was banished back to defence after he had had 3 shots on target saved. Man of the Match went to Harrison Pollard and not just for his goal of the season contender.
