Match Report |
Caradon A team lost their 100% record, and first league game for 13 months, in a physical encounter against Penzance A to a 5-3 scoreline which could and probably should have finished all square. Caradon took the lead after 5 minutes when Liam Champion fired an inch perfect ball upfield to Paul Hunt who turn and worked his way into the D before lobbing the ball over the advancing keeper. Within minutes Penzance were level when they broke with pace to score a goood goal from a tight angle. Caradon responded quickly with another well worked goal with Rapper Tamblin providing the through ball and Ben Hedley this time finding the target from a tight angle. Caradon then had a goal shot for a 2 goal cushion but the umpire adjudged that the ball had been struck from outside the D. Caradon continued to press and picked up a short corner but when the inital shot was block Penzance broke and with defenders backing off they were able to enter the D and fire home to leave the scoreline level at half time. Early in the second half Caradon restored their lead when David Lockett took a long corner and drove into the D to score from a tight angle. Paul Hunt thought he had extended the lead when he fired into the D but the umpire had already blown to award Caradon a short corner. Penzance then struck back with three successful short corners that were drag flicked into the net to give them a 2 goal lead and despite having two players yellow carded Caradon were unable to respond. Next week Caradon host Duchy hoping to rediscover the winning habit.
