Match Report |
Having wasted a couple of early chances Caradon were soon a goal down following a penalty flick which was awarded following a strike on goal hitting Tristan Young on the feet. The umpires verdict was that it was on target and the penalty flick just eluded a diving George Rowe in goal. This brought Caradon to life and with in 5 minutes they were in front following two elegant goals that involved half a dozen players all playing one touch hockey. Paul Hunt scored the first with a strong first time hit from the top of the D and Ben Hedley scored the second again with a first time flick over the goalkeeper. Caradon Captain David Lockett then got in on the act converting 2 short corners but just before half time OPMs kept themselves in the game as Caradon failed to clear a short corner and an OPM forward was on hand to hit the ball under a diving George Rowe to make the score 4-2 at half time. The second half was more striaght forward as Caradon kept the pressure on. The goals flowed and if it wasn't for the OPM goalkeeper, playing outstandingly in only his 3rd match, the score would have breached double figures and kept on going. Paul Hunt and Ben Hedley got their second of the match and Jake Andrews picked up his first of the season whilst David Lockett completed his hat trick from yet another short corner as the game finished 8-2. Next up will be a sterner test provided by unbeaten PGSOB who have won two and drawn one of their league fixtures so far this season.
