Match Report

Caradon got off to a flying start as Paul Hunt opened his account for Caradon with a well taken goal that he drilled into the right hand corner.  The lead was doubled in even better fashion when Mike Parkinson cracked an exquiste ball from just instead the Torbay half that looked like it was heading out for a 16 hit out only for David Lockett to roll back the years and dive behind the defender to deflect the ball past a stranded keeper into the net.  Caradon then seemed to loose there shape a little and the play became scrappy, sensible hockey went out the window as virtually every player tried to hold onto the ball or look for the wonder pass rather than play the obvious ball.  Caradon were still the better team and right on half time had a shot stopped on the line by a foot to give Caradon a penalty flick but unfortunately the chance was squandered.  Half time guidance didn't seem to wake Caradon from their slumber but when Torbay got a goal back Caradon at last realised that they were in a game.  The energy levels improved and Hunt soon pounced on a poor 16 hit out to fire the ball past the Torbay keeper to restore the 2 goal cushion.  Another shot was stopped on the line by a Torbay defender and this time Ben Hedley scored although next time he might want to use a bit more power!  Caradon could and probably should have been more clinical in front of goal but the result keeps their unbeaten start to the season intact and next up they host OPM B next Saturday at 1200.  The man of the match for the second week running was Paul Hunt for his well taken brace in his second game for Caradon.
