Match Report |
On a hot sunny day Caradon second team hosted unbeaten Ashmoor third team hoping to continue their own unbeaten start to the season. Caradon created early pressure but despite two short corners were unable to open their account as the Ashmoor keeper looked on top form as he made a couple of decent saves. Caradon finally found a way through with their third short corner as David Lockett drilled the ball just inside the near post to give Caradon a deserved lead. That lead should have been extended but Caradon were wasteful in open play and from the 3 more short corners they earned before half time. Ashmoor came back into the game as the half drew to a close but both Tristan Young and Liam Champion were both having a good game at Left and Right back respectively which prevented much penetration of the Caradon D. The second half start with Caradon again on the front foot but efforts continued to be thwarted by an excellent display in goal by the Ashmoor keeper. It needed another short corner from Lockett, this time drilled inside the far post to give Caradon some breathing space. Ashmoor were now dangerous on the break and a couple of times Caradon were indebted to Toby Riddle, in goal for the first time this season, who pull of a couple of fine blocks. However Ashmoor eventually got the reward their persistence deserved as another break saw a two on one situation with Riddle and they were not to be denied. With 14 minutes remaining Caradon tightened up their defence and prevented Ashmoor getting any further shots on goal and but for the Ashmoor keeper they looked the more likely side to score again. Paul Hunt, on debut, was voted man of the match for his hold up play at centre forward and was also unlucky not to score. WIth 4 wins out of 4, next up is a trip to Torbay as they look to continue to set the pace in South West 2.
