Match Report

Caradon played host to Falmouth in the semi final of the county cup and despite thier best efforts were knocked out.

The game could not have started any worse for last years cup winners when Falmouth took the lead within twenty seconds. Caradon were stunned and realised that this was going to be an uphill struggle. Falmouth were favourites before the game started and going a goal up set the tone for the first half. Caradons' defence were under severe pressure and were struggling to find thier composure. There was a brief lull when Bizzie Dinnis equalised with a good strike from a penalty corner.

Falmouth continued to outplay Caradon and the score was 2-1 to the visitors at half time and Caradon knew they had to play more competatively and take thier chances if they were to get themselves back into the game.

As Caradon pushed forward gaps started to appear and Falmouth capitalised and were soon 4-1 up. The spirit evidant in previous weeks saw Caradon to continue to fight and win numerous penalty corners. Falmouths' keeper was stopping everything coming her way and continued to frustrate the home teams forwards. Everything was being thrown at the Falmouths' defence and eventually a goal was scored by the delighted Lauren Gauge. There was hope.... falmouth started to look worried and rightly so as Nic Dymond scored her first of the season and the come back was on!

The next goal would surely decide the winner of the fixture and unfortunately for Caradon it was the visitors who broke away and scored to effectively seal the match with minutes left to play.

Caradon can be very proud of the spirited team performance displayed and will look forward to playing Falmouth in the league in a few weeks time, confidant of revenge with players returning to strengthen the team.
