Match Report | Caradon 3rd teams’ last game of the season was against Plym Valley 2s. Caradon had their minds set on going out strong and coming away with a win. Plym Valley however had a different view and started strong pushing into Caradon half from the outset, Caradon stood firm and and battled hard to stop these driving runs. Unfortunately in the first quarter of the match Plym Valley got a lucky goal when a strike in the D took a defection from Abbi Larigo’s stick straight into the top of the goal. This didn’t faze Caradon at first and they lifted their heads to battle on, however a few minutes later Caradon had a 5 minute melt down where Plym Valley scored another 2 goals taking their lead to 3 goals. Caradon shape had fractured and scrappy played followed but they managed to stop any further attacks in the first half. Captain Lockett lifted the team at half time and said the result was no longer a worry just to regain the teams structure, keep positive and not allow another goal into their net! The team were completely different in the second half looking like the team that deserved to be in the top few of the table. Caradon stood strong through out the second half and pulled the score line back to 3-2 with goals from Delia Woodman and Bryony Gubbins with more chances just going wide of the goal. Caradon 3s have had a fantastic season winning 14 matches, drawing 5 and losing only 3 games, scoring 77 goals and only conceding 15 goals, having the second best goal difference in the league, finishing on 47 points. Everyone should be very proud of their performances within the team. Next season will be ours!! |
