Women's 3rd XI Vs Plymouth Uni 3

Another damp and miserable day awaited Plymouth University 3’s v Caradon 3’s at Lux Park last Saturday and the home team knew they had to start strong to curb the forward runs from this young side. Caradon worked hard with well timed tackles winning the ball and pushing forward. The first goal came mid way into the 1st half when Nic Natten picked up the ball at the top of the D slipped it to Erryn Lockett to slip the ball past the keeper into the goal, this settled Caradon and they started to dominate; Pippa Hedley, Abi Larigo, Shelley Lockett & Abi Strevens worked well in mid field to push the ball forward. The second goal came when Pippa passed to Erryn to shoot at goal but a defenders foot on the line thwarted their efforts but a penalty flick was given. Captain Shelley Lockett stepped up to take (as volunteers were few!) and slotted home to give the home team a 2-0 lead. 

The second half started strong for Caradon again, Bryony Gubbins worked hard on the right to pressure the visitors. The Caradon defence of Delia Woodman, Josie Dudley, Emma Link and Kerryn Walsh stood strong and dealt with any pressure. Caradon sealed the win after winning a short which Senior Lockett stuck and junior Lockett deverted To make it 3! Caradons’ sweeper Rach Luiten having a solid match as usual as sweeper pulled her back in the last 10minutes and had to take herself off, this disrupted the home sides shape and the Uni side tired hard to capitalise but keeper Lauren Bowdler made a couple of crucial saves and Caradon kept a clean sheet. Player of the match was jointly won by Erryn Lockett & Bryon Gubbins for their efforts.
