Match Report |
Last Saturday Caradon Ladies 2s travelled to Brickfields to face Mannamead in their penultimate league game of the season. Lying just behind them in the league, Caradon were keen to put on a good performance to leave a chance of moving ahead and up to 8th after the final league fixtures. A few weeks of stability in the Caradon team means the side are now looking more of a cohesive unit with much improved passing and supporting play. Caradon were very much the dominant side with multiple chances on goal right from the first few minutes. Their endeavours were also aided by an understrength Mannamead team, who were missing influential striker Ruby Westhead. Despite a couple of quick breaks and strong hold up play by Mananamead forward Brookes, the team never really looked like offering Caradon much resistance. Conversely, once Caradon had worked the ball forward to striker Laura Hill, she controlled well to beat players, round the keeper and slot away for her 4 goals of the day. A 5th went to Emma-Jayne Mullis from a smart strike at the top of the D, leaving the final score at 5-0 to the visitors. Caradon spirits were high as they headed home with all 3 points and the prospect of a date with Kate Richardson-Walsh as Special Guest at the End of Season celebrations that evening. The Ladies 2s play their final game of the season against Marjons at Lux Park on Wednesday evening (7:00pm); this being a re-arranged fixture due to snow.
