Women's 2nd XI Vs Plymouth Uni 2

In the penultimate home game of the season, Caradon Ladies 2s faced a youthful Plym Uni side.  Plym Uni 2s built well from the back, but played a high defensive line that left opportunities for Caradon forwards to counter attack. Any early breaks through by Plym Uni were well intercepted by Man of the Match E-J Mullis who looked strong and determined in the sweeper position. Claire Brown made good ground down the right hand side with numerous quick breaks, seeing 3 green cards for the opposition who did not retreat and were deemed to interfer with the attack. 

Against the run of play, the first goal of the tie went to the away side when the sweeper burst through from defence and caught keeper Eddy off guard to slot away for a 1-0 lead. 

Heads did not go down and Caradon continued to build pressure. This was soon rewarded with a short corner from a defensive foot in the D. A slick pull out from Alice May was met by Hill at the top of the D and a quick 1-2 with Charlie Harris allowed Hill to stike home to level the scores. Caradon continued to mount the pressure on the visiting side and a determined run by Hill saw the Uni keeper bundle clumsily into the path of attack, resulting in a penalty stroke to the home side. With Hill left winded, May stepped up to the spot. Unfortunately a deserved lead was not to come as May failed to connect properly and the flick was easily saved by the visiting keeper. Despite further pressure, the home side could not capitalise further and the game finished at 1-1 with a point a piece. Caradon face Mannamead ladies this weekend with an away fixture, 10:30 at Brickfields.
