Match Report |
Caradon came out all guns blazing yet failed to find the target as a number of guilt edge chances were spurned. The flow of the game was turned on its head with two green cards in the space of a minute. Captain David Lockett picked up the first as a result of a tackle that even had the opposition pleading that it was a perfectly reasonable tackle only to be told the he was getting one anyway for 'his previous offences'. Liam Chanpion's came as a result of a stick tackle when trying to clear the ball upfield. Torbay capitalised and score twice in quick succession. Caradon did not let this knock back upset the quality of the hockey they were playing and with 3 minutes remain they forced a short corner which David Lockett dispatched inside the post having clearly used the two earlier short corners as ranging efforts. Then in the last second of the first half Lockett crossed from the right hand side for Ben Hedley to sweep home. Caradon showed more control in the second half denying Torbay breaks into the D and from a quick break Caradon broke into the Torbay half and Lockett picked up the ball at the top of the D to give Caradon the lead for the first time in the match. Torbay briefly restored parity but Thomas Rowe, Ben Hedley and William Turpin were starting to stretch the Torbay defence and from two well worked moves into the D Thomas Rowe was on hand to slot home. For his second goal he showed composure to pick the time to fire through the keepers legs. Ben Hedley got in on the act again with his second goal of the game and was denied his hat trick when he twice hit the post as Caradon finished the game 6-3 winners to maintain there position of third in the table. Captain David Lockett was almost unanimously voted Muppet of the Match for allowing Torbay a foothold in the game by picking up a green card whilst Thomas Rowe's display of attacking intent throughout the game was rewarded with his first Man of the Match award of the season.
