Despite the loss of some important players to the first team plus Rapper Tamblin going on holiday (!) Caradon 2s held their own against top of the table Truro 4s to grind out an even 1-1 draw. In the plus column the 2s were bolstered by the presence of Martin Batty from the first team who was unable to play for the first due to work commitments. An even first half saw both team make a number of half chance but nothing came to really threaten either keeper. Caradon had to work hard for a short period as Ben Reynolds got a green card for not retreating far enough and that duly earnt him the Muppet of the Match award. In the second half Caradon looked increasingly threatening on the break and after 15 minutes Lockett took a quick free hit and drove doing the wing and fired the ball into the D where Mike Parkinson was able to stop and fire home to give Caradon the lead. It was a lead that was to last only a couple of minutes as the ball was worked into the Caradon D and although the initial shot was saved and heading wide a Truro forward was on had to dive and deflect the ball back inside the near post. After that both defences held firm and the game ended in a draw with no team deserving to lose. Mike Parkinson and Martin Batty were jointly awarded the Man of the Match award. Caradon 2s are back on the road next weekend for a visit to Torbay 3s.
