Match Report

Caradon entertained high flyers Falmouth and put in one of the performances of the season.

The team talk emphasised the importance of bravery in a fixture that has historically seen Falmouth take the majority of points. With a slight reshuffle in the defensive line up, Caradon were looking solid and were stringing some good phases of play together. Marcia Burgess was finding plenty of space in the middle of the pitch and alongside Beth Harris were winning the tussle and enabling the home team to enjoy some good possesion. Good chances were coming and had it not been for some epic saves by the Falmouth keeper, Caradon could have opened the scoring.

Falmouth showed thier experience and worked a penalty corner routine that resulted in a penalty flick being award after a foot on the line. This was cooly put away and Caradon went into the half time break a goal down but not disheartened.

The second half continued in the same vain as the first, good phases of passing hockey only to result in good saves from the Falmouth keeper. Sadie Mullis and Helen Manley continued to put the pressure on the visitors defence but it was a player of the match performance from left back Fleur Worden that was causing real problems. One of her driving runs led to a foul which Clare Poad took quickly and drove to the circle, her threaded pass found Bizzie Dinnis who somehow bundled it over the line. 1-1 and with five minutes left to play, Caradon continued to battle and secure a well earnt point.

After a few dissapointing results lately, Caradon were delighted with thier performance and the point which sees them sitting sixth in the league with 2 to play.
