Match Report | Caradon continued thier run of good form with a powerful performance which saw them beat Marjons 4-1. With almost a full squad available, Caradon started confidently and created many chances in the oppositions circle. Helen Manley linked well with Player of the match, Bizzie Dinnis and after drawing 3 Marjon defenders Dinnis' perfect pass found unmarked Clare Poad who clinically finished. Caradon were in control until a quickly taken free hit found a high marjon forward who deflected home. With the scores level it was the visitors who were piling on the pressure and forcing penalty corners of thier own. It was from one of these that a goalbound shot was saved illegally on the line by the brave Amy Batty, a good decision as the resulting penalty flick was brilliantly saved by keeper, Helen Delbridge. This was a pivotal moment as Caradon regained composure and went into the half time team talk with a calmness that has become familiar. With a few tactical changes, Caradon started to bully themselves into a commanding position and Marjons were struggling with the pace of the game. Substitutions meant that Caradon had more energy and won numerous penalty corners. A well practiced rountine saw Carina Hodge combine effortlessly with Poad who found the bottom corner. There was no stopping the home team now as they continued to push forward. Dinnis was throwing everything at the defensive line up and was well rewarded when she scored two goals in quick succesion, both trademark reverse strikes that left the players and supporters alike, applauding. Caradon continued to compete right to the full time whistle, a characteristic that has strengthened the amazing team spirit in this still imroving team. This week Caradon have a break from the league, but look forward to taking on rivals, Falmouth, in the semi final of the county cup on the 17th of February 3pm start at Lux Park. |
