Match Report

Caradon travelled to Bude on Saturday and ran out convincing winners.

With a few new additions to the squad, Caradon started nervously. Possesion was given away cheaply and it was Bude who were getting more of the play and starting to punish the visitors with many attacks on thier right hand side.

As Caradon adjusted thier formation to deal with the threat, they were starting to create chances of thier own. Player of the match, Nic Dymond, was distributing the ball well from the center of the pitch, giving both wingers and forward runners plenty of oppertunities to run into space. Penalty corners were awarded and it was from one oif these that top goal scorer, Bizzie Dinnis, broke the deadlock when she slotted home a rebounded shot. Caradon increased thier lead just before half time when Marcia Burgess, playing in a new position, scored her first goal for the club when she converted a pass from Dinnis.

Caradon had worked out how to snuff out Budes' attacks with the defensive line up of Lucie Kay, Amy Batty and Fleur Worden leaving keeper Helen Delbridge with little to do. Anything that did come her was dealt with convincingly.

Caradon were purring now and more goals were enevitable. Captain, Clare Poad, scored from a slick penalty corner routine before Dinnis made it 4-0.

Wingers, Helen Manley and Lauren Gouge were getting more of the play as play was continually switched from side to side and Caradon looked fully in control. Carina Hodge and Beth Harris supported the forwards well and the final goal of the day was a result of numerous passes and Poad bouncing on a goal bound shot only partailly saved by the dispondant Bude keeper.

Caradon were very pleased with both the result and performance and encouraged by how well the new squad memebers had settled into the team. A first clean sheet should hopefully act as a springboard for the remaining games of the season, a tight defense will be required next week when Caradon entertain title chasers, Exeter University.
