Match Report | Caradon took the long road trip to Taunton on Saturday and ran out convincing winners. Caradon started confidently after the previous two weeks results and were soon ahead after a mazey run from Bizzie Dinnis drew Tauntons defence and a perfect pass found skipper, Clare Poad, at the top of the circle to first time fire home. An early goal has become the expected start and the visitors built on this. Dinnis and Poad combining again in the circle for Poad to power a shot into the bottom corner. Caradon were now playing with a certain swagger, and interchanges between the players were sharp and accurate. Seamless substitutions allowed players to continue to mix the passages of play and Taunton were struggling to keep up with the pace of attacks. The third, and probably best goal of the day, started from center back Amy Batty. Her free hit found left winger Lauren Kelly and quick passes found Poad and Marcia Burgess, who was playing in a new attacking role. With great vision a pass into the path of Dinnis was fired home and the game was to all effects, over. Caradon continued to play hockey that was straight off the training ground, a great all round team performance left Taunton struggling to create chances. Player of the match, Lucie Kay, was faultless in defence and positive in going forward. It was from one of these attacking runs that lead to a penalty corner which Helen Manley creatively tucked away to help with the teams goal differance tally. The last five minutes left Caradons defence trying to hang on to another clean sheet, but were denied after a succesion of penalty corners led to a bouncing ball crossing the line in the final play of the match. Caradon entertain Marjons this week at Lux Park, looking to continue thier good form and chase a top three finish for the season. |
