Match Report

Caradon 2s travelled to Penzance on Saturday for a tough fixture against top of the Table in Trelawney Division 1. The Penzance side, known for their home form, and with a sizeable squad, started strongly and looked calm and controlled on the ball. However, on the back of a string of strong performances and with the Caradon side starting to gel as a unit, any Penzance attacks were dealt with calmly including a number of confident saves by the Caradon keeper. Caradon had their own opportunities in the first half but despite some slick moves and good possession hockey, were unable to score and went into the half time break at 0-0. Both sides came out full of confidence in the second half, each pushing forward for the first goal. Before long Penzance were rewarded for their efforts by a penalty corner, which was well worked and slotted home under the keepers left foot to take the score to 1-0. Despite end to end play and further opportunities and penalty corners for both sides, the game finished 1-0, with Penzance looking visibly relieved to have taken three points from a fixture that they looked to have assusmed would be a formality. Caradon Man-of the-Match went to Georgia Hall for her sterling work at left back and her defensive role in penalty corners.
