Match Report

Caradon travelled to Tavistock to play thier final league game before the Christmas break and were well beaten by a good team display of passing hockey.

Caradon were slow to start, lacking their usual competetive edge and were soon 3 goals down with an uphill struggle ahead. With a very bouncy pitch and umpire decisions going against them, Caradon looked rattled and struggled to string any passages of play together. Bizzie Dinnis scored a solo effort goal and this seemed to kick start the Cornish team and at last penalty corners were won. A Clare Poad strike from one of these was stopped illegally on the line but the resulting flick from Dinnis was brilliantly saved by the young keeper.

A stern half time talk emphasised the need to be more competative, and this seemed to work as the second half was much more evenly balanced. Player of the match Julia Eldridge made some crucial challenges but Tavistock pushed for more goals and were rewarded with a further 2.

Caradon remain mid table and can write this game off as a bad day at the office, and must now brush themselves off ready to play Penzance in the quarter final of the county cup on the 9th of December.
