Match Report |
Caradon IIs travelled to Plymouth on Saturday hoping to build on their first win of the season the previous week and secure a further 3 points against fellow strugglers Plym Uni IIs. They were disappointed to be missing a couple of key players but the strength and versatility of the squad was demonstrated by a battling performance and an evident desire to bring home the 3 points. The Plym Uni side defied their bottom of table position and looked youthful and skilful, always pressing hard and being quick to the ball. However, the Caradon experience and determination shone through and kept the Uni side chances to a minimum. The few breaks through and shots on goal were dealt with deftly by the defence of Georgia Hall, Rachael Spencer, Claire Brown and in form keeper Bekki Eddy. At the other end, Caradon had numerous attacks but the only goal of the game came from a well won short corner that was converted by a calm and powerful straight shot strike from Emma-Jayne Mullis. Now lying 9th in the table, Caradon IIs face 8th placed Mannamead at Lux Park this Saturday (25 Nov) and will be hoping to climb above them towards mid-table comfort!
