Match Report

Continuing a good run of form, Caradon entertained Tiverton White Eagles and won an entertaining game. With both teams sitting in mid table position before the game started it had the makings of an even contest but it was caradon who drew first blood in taking the lead within the first 2 minutes. First penalty corner of the match awarded, Amy Battys' clean injection and a Bizzie Dinnis sharp shot from the top of the circle gave the home team an early lead and the whole team were knew this was a game they were going to enjoy.

Caradon looked comfortable in possesion, Marcia Burgess  controlling her midfield with another strong display of organisation, but it was the Eagles to strike next. A well worked goal gave the keeper, Helen Dellbridge, no chance.

Straight after the restart, Beth Harris fed Dinnis on the left hand side, after beating 3 players her pass found Skipper, Clare Poad, whos shot was blocked by a sliding defenders body. Penalty flick awarded and Dinnis converted expertly.

Just before the teams broke for half time the visitors equalised through a break away goal and the scores were level at the mid way point.

With a slight change in tactics, Caradon resumed the match in bullish fashion. Squeezing the play and stealing possesion it was Helen Manley who was next on the score sheet, converting a pass from Poad.

With Carrina Hodge driving relentlessly at the Eagles defence, more short corners were awarded, chances to increase the lead came and went but the next goal, and Dinnis' hatrick, came from open play. Sadie Mullis and Hodge combined on the right leaving a chance for Dinnis in the circle to clinically convert.

With the game now effectively over it was left for Poad to claim the teams fith and final goal, converting a chance made by Manley.

A great team performance by the balanced home team means that the three points lift them into the top half of the table with two tricky away fixtures before the Christmas break. The first of these is away to league leaders, Falmouth, on Saturday.
