Women's 1st XI Vs Marjons II

Caradon got thier first point of the season with a solid performance at local rivals, Marjons. A change in formation seemed to suit the visitors and they started the match in attacking style, a penalty flick awarded in the first 5 minutes due to a foot on the line, following a short corner. Captain Clare Poads' flick was well saved but the writing was on the wall and Caradon soon broke the deadlock when an improvised short corner routine was poached over the line by Player of the match,  Sadie Mullis.

With the midfield growing in confidance, play was being switched from side to side and numerous attacks on the Marjons goal were being created. Marcia Burgess was pulling the strings in the center of the pitch and with energised performances from Carina Hodge and Beth Harris, Marjons were struggling to break through. Just before half time, caradon extended thier lead when a perfect long field pass from right back, Fleur Worden found Poad with only the keeper to beat. 2-0 and Caradon looked in control.

All was going to plan until an injury to Worden, unsteadied the ship and for the first time in the match caradon looked flustered and lost thier shape. Marjons scored quickly and then continued to pile on the pressure as caradon looked to settle. With 5 minutes to play the scores were levelled after a soft shot squirmed under the helpless Helen Dellbridge in goal.

The match could have gone either way in the last few minutes, with both teams having good chances to win the game but the points were shared after an entertaining game.

Caradon look to build on this good performance when they entertain Okehampton at home on Saturaday, 3pm start.
