Match Report

Trelawney Division 1
Caradon 2: 0
Plym Valley: 4

Caradon were back on the home pitch at Lux as they faced Plym Valley, a team Caradon have faced many times through the years with each game being high in passion and determination by both teams. This was evident in the first half of the game, with both teams trying the keeper in the first 15 minutes. It was a scuffle in the Caradon D which broke the deadlock after a foot was declared to have saved the ball off a Plym Valley shot on goal and a penalty flick was awarded. Despite reaching in the correct direction, Caradon goalie Bekki Eddy was beaten by the speed of the shot as the visitors went up 1-0.
A scrappy game in all, stick tackles started flying in - not with intent, just with both teams desperate to get the ball it was left to the umpires to warn both Captains to inform their teams that it had to stop. Much slicker game play then followed, particularly by Plym Valley who charged through the middle of the park despite one of them spending the last two minutes of the half off with a green card following another sloppy stick tackle.
Caradon had a constructive chat at half time, knowing that they were still very much in the game and much like last week started the second half strong and keen. Nicola Dymond and Georgia Hall in defence held off attacks gaining them the Player of the Match title, shared with Sadie Mullis who continues to threaten down the wing with her quick running with the ball darting past a number of players to get shots into the D. The Caradon had chances in attack, but with shots just going wide and short corner opportunities not quite working it was to simply be one of those games where nothing would go in.

Despite a good rotation in the midfield line between subs EJ Mullis, Natalie Ridgers and wingers Leah Jones and Daisy Hunn, there was an obvious gap where Plym Valley could counter attack, which they did adding to the scoreline 2-0. Tension started to show between both teams, with a player from each side being shown yellow for some off ball pushing. Both down to 10, Plym Valley once again pushed forwards and after winning a short corner converted it to increase their lead to 3.
Frustrated Caradon let their heads dip and as Plym Valley made it 4, they welcomed the sound of the final whistle.
There were positives to take but once again chances weren't taken by the home team. They travel away tomorrow hoping that goals make a return with a win over the newcomers to Trelawney 1 - Newquay.
