Women's 1st XI Vs Bude

Caradon 1s entertained newly promoted Bude in their first league game of the season. Despite missing a few key players, cardon started confidently but could not convert any of their chances. With heads starting to drop, Bude began to grow into the game. At half time the scores were 0-0 and it was the visitors who started to create chances of thier own. The score was soon 0-2 and caradon looked down and out, this worsened as Bude took advantage of a defensive mix up and cardon were looking at a convincing defeat. At 3-0 down caradon decided to up the tempo and with nothing to lose showed the type of hockey that is well within thier capabilities. Finally a penalty corner was converted by Bizzie Dinnis and this lit the touch paper for a frantic ten minutes. Clare Poads shot came straight of the post to find Dinnis who slot home 3-2 and the game was again all to play for. The Poad/Dinnis partnership combined again and Dinnis completed her hat trick. More penalty corners were awarded to the home team, shots were cleared off the line and then a penalty flick awarded. This was surely the moment to win the game but Poad misconnected and the flick was easily saved. With two minutes signalled by the umpires, Bude promptly went up the other end and scored the winner and claimed all the points.

Caradon must learn the lessons from this match and take the positives from a spirited comeback into next weeks game away to title favourites Exeter University.
