Match Report | Caradon travelled to Tiverton by train and played in a closely fought match that ended in Cornish team returning home with a well earnt point. Right from the first whistle it was clear this was not going to be a pretty match to watch or play in. Both sets of players endulged in some competative challenges but it was Caradon who seemed to get judged as the offenders. Three players seeing green cards earning them 2 minute suspensions each. With the game struggling to find any kind of flow, Player of the match Beth Harris put in another great battling performance and showed how much she has matured during the season. Just before the half time whistle, caradon were awarded a penalty corner which was Captain, Clare Poad smashed home with a little help from a Tiverton defenders foot. The second half continued in much the same vain as the first, scrappy and competative. Tiverton eqaulised and for a spell it was backs against the wall for the visitors. Lucie Kay, Fleur Worden and Marcia Burgess were solid in defence and keeper Helen Delbridge made some good saves to keep the scores level. The last 10 minutes saw Caradon look more positive and create chances of their own but the final whistle came to end what was at times an ill tempered fixture. Caradon now look to finishing thier season with 3 home games. With a top three finish looking unlikely they now look to consolidate a mid table finish with an eye on what next season could potentailly bring. |
