Match Report

The wait for a home game continued as Caradon Men's second team travelled to Brickfield to play PGSOB.  After a delayed start caused by a lack of umpires Caradon started brightly and took the lead inside 5 minutes as Ben Hedley waltzed into the D and calmly slipped the ball past the keeper and inside his left hand post. Caradon continued to press with Will Turpin bossing the centre of the pitch but clear chances remained hard to come by.  Then with 5 minutes of the half remaining Captain David Lockett took a leaf out of the Ben Hedley stick skills book and danced his way into the D before flicking the ball past the keeper.  Ben Reynolds was loitering on the far post and made sure of the goal but verification of who it belonged to required a referral to the 'Dubious Goals Commitee'.  With the team Captain chairing the commitee (a fine body of one), it cames as little surprise to anyone that the goal was awarded to David Lockett although Ben was commended for being in the right place at the right time just in case!

The second half saw PGSOB up their game but attacks were well dealt with by a strong back line of Tim Wright, Mike Parkinson, Liam Champion and the Commando brothers of Ian Harris and Richard Turpin.  PGSOB's only managed one real shot on target from a short corner and although bobbled shot squirmed through keeper Toby Riddle's pads the defender on the line was at hand to sweep the ball away.  Caradon continued to look dangerous on the break but a number of threatening attacks came to nothing as the young forward line started to get over excited and attempt to create the wonder goal rather than take the more obvious simpler pass option.  A final score of 2-0 was a fair reflection on the game and takes Caradon to 12 points, now double last seasons tally, after only 5 games with Will Turpin picking up the Man of the Match award on his own after sharing it after the last game.  Next week sees the Two's finally get a home game with the visit of Penzance for a 1-30pm start.
